With 20 percent of AVMA members reporting they have experienced cyberbullying and false reviews, the House of Delegates (HOD) and Board of Directors (BOD) has prioritized helping member veterinarians combat the emotional and financial damage caused by online detractors.

JAVMA has published the attached article, which can be found on the NYSVMS website at https://www.nysvms.org/resource/collection/6AC4D7D6-4DAE-4EAC-965F-B5EDFCCFDC57/cyberbullying.pdf, entitled "Fighting the Cyberbully - How Harassment Can Affect Your Practice."  It contains helpful advice, as well as links to other resources.

The AVMA now offers a 24/7 DVM Cyberbullying Hotline answered by experienced crisis management consultants, which is now available to members being cyberbullied and in need of immediate assistance. This service includes 30 minutes of free consultation to AVMA members.  Another tool, the AVMA’s online reputation management resources page, is also available.
